Working well after just 2 1/2 weeks
I've only been taking these Biotin supplements for 2 1/2 weeks but I can already tell a difference. The last year or so I've noticed that my hair is thinning in the front and it's gotten worse the last few months as I've started perimenopause. I've also had two nails that are splitting/peeling and I haven't been able to grow them out or do anything to stop the splitting. I bought the Biotin to help with these two problems and so far it's already making a difference.
While it's still too soon to notice any difference in the thickness of my hair my splitting/peeling nails have already grown out to the point where they are no longer splitting. In fact the top layer of the nail that was separating from the rest of the nail seems to be more "fused" in place. My nails also feel harder and stronger and almost brighter.
Additionally I've also noticed that both my eyelashes and my eyebrows have gotten longer. When I was curling my eyelashes the other day they came past the place on the eyelash curler where they usually end; I've also had to tweeze my brows a bit more.
At this rate I'm very happy with this product since it has had noticeable results. Like I said I haven't noticed too much difference in the front of my hair but I know that that is because it is still early in the process and it can take several months to have noticeable hair growth.
It sort of snuck up on me too how quickly this was working. The other day I glanced down and was surprised to see that my nail was no longer splitting. I wasn't expecting such quick results and was pleasantly surprised. Since I have seen results with my nails eyelashes and eyebrows however I know that this is working already and I can't wait to see continued results with my hair.
UPDATE ON 3/2/10: I've been taking these Biotin tablets now for about two months and notice a definite difference in my hair and nails. The front of my hair has started filling in and my hair is much thicker in those places where I had noticed some hair loss. My nails are also growing really quickly and they are strong with no more cracking or peeling.

BIOTIN 5000mcg. I love this stuff!I take 1 Biotin 5000mcg pill a day plus 1 mega-multi vitamin and 1 MSM 1000MG per day. I have been taking the Biotin for 10 weeks now and I have noticed a considerable difference in my new growth. I am an African American woman with 4A/4B hair texture (pretty kinky). I texturize my hair to loosen my curl pattern. I have not noticed any signs of "faster" hair growth (my hair grows about 1/2" month as long as I take care of my ends) - BUT I have noticed a difference in the texture and health of my new growth. It's much shinier stronger softer and healthier. In fact I am scheduled for a text. re-touch in about 2 and a half weeks (I texturize my new growth every 8 weeks)and I might just wait longer because my new growth is NOT kinky - it grows out of my scalp with a loosened curl pattern (more wavy) - weird? I know! Another plus is that my nails DO grow faster - I just clipped them to nubs only 2 weeks ago and they are now hanging over my nail bed! My skin is much clearer (glowing if you will). All in all I am very pleased with this product. I have stocked up with 4 bottles should last me about 8 months. In the beginning I tried taking 2 per day but my stomach complained. One pill per day of the 5000mcg is plenty and will show you results. I advise to take it for at least 1 month before seeing any results.

Biotin Works For Us (and it's nice to get a good deal too)Spring Valley Biotin sometimes sells out since it's been offering Biotin at a great price.
The main thing is that if you've tried Biotin you'll know if it works for you. My wife started using it and people were telling her that her hair looked thicker when they didn't know she was using it. Because her hair is thicker it also appears to have more color and that is the thing I notice the most. I'm convinced.
As a sidebar her nails are stronger. That's another signal that Biotin works. Considering the price and our experience with it I'd be surprised if this product does not get extremely popular.

Great stuff for any hair type!
Typically when you think of Biotin you think of products that require you to have very thin (or thinning hair) or at least that is what I always thought. I tried this product because even though I have a lot of hair it is fine and I heard biotin might aid in the strength and vitality of the hair follicles. I have to say that I have loved this product! I even got my mom using it and my best friend.
I have tried other products of this line as well and have similarly enjoyed the results! Try them!

Good price good resultsMy nails have always been ridged weak and brittle. They practically melt in water (and I swim daily). I noticed an improvement to my cuticles and nails within weeks. Three months later they look great. The hangnails and chewed look is gone. I keep my nails short by choice but they are much stronger and look professional and neat. I'm very pleased with this product.
The $17.27 for a 3 month supply is the best price I found for 2.5 mg (2500 mcg). I noticed a `buy one get one free' sale this past week at Walgreen's but the starting price for the Appearex was $25 for a one month supply. Not good. Other biotin products I've seen are not the 2.5 mg daily requirement for nail improvement (mostly $5-$10 for 500 or 1000) mcg so once you multiply to get the daily requirement they cost much more as well.
There's a bonus to the biotin. In addition to the nail-skin-hair improvements it also seems to boost metabolism. I've been more energetic and sleeping more soundly at night. ~$6 a month is a good deal and this is a reliable and conveniently packaged product. I'll be buying a year's supply next time.
